With the increased use of computers and television, it is no surprise that people are getting eye or vision problems. You will find even a small kid below the age of ten wearing specs which, was not common some years ago. So, what should people do? Just accept its life and move on?
Well, at this age and time, it is impossible to advise people to stop using computers or spending too much time on television, phones or iPad especially since most jobs are now done using computers. The only thing that can be done is to find a solution for the problem, and that is where orthokeratology comes in.
What is Orthokeratology?
Orthokeratology is a non-surgical procedure that involves creating gas permeable lenses that alter the shape of the cornea to reduce effects of myopia, astigmatism, and hyperopia. It eliminates the need of wearing glasses since all you need to do is put on the contact lenses at night, and in the morning your eyes will have a clear vision.
Unlike having standard specs or undergoing eye surgery, orthokeratology gives you the freedom to engage in things such as contact or water sports given that your eyes have perfect vision during the day. Orthokeratology is more than just any eye procedure.
When you visit an orthokeratology, a few tests are done to see if your eyes are fit for the procedure. Once the doctor is assured that you can use the contact lenses, he or she will instruct you on how to use it, and after the first night of wearing them, you will be required to go for a check up to see if there is any change. If the lenses are not as useful as they are supposed to be, your orthokeratology can modify the lenses.
Orthokeratology has been seen to produce results in a very short time. However, the time taken to get effective results varies from one person to another.
